Who We Are

The Direct Lineage of Barry Lee Wing Chun

Sifu Fu-Shan Yang is a fourth-generation master in the direct lineage of Grandmaster Yip Man. As the premier representative of the Barry Lee style in Australia, Yang Ving Tsun Academy focuses strictly on the devastating combat effectiveness and structural efficiency that made traditional Ving Tsun famous.

We are proudly low-key and entirely uncommercialised. We do not sell belts, certificates, or gradings. Seniority here is earned through the depth of your skill and knowledge, not the number of years you have paid fees. This commitment to pure foundation is why dedicated students and martial artists fly across the globe to train on our floor.

The Logic of Ving Tsun: Why We’re Different

Scientific and Logical Self-Defence

Wing Chun is based on mathematics and physics. We train you to control the centerline, using geometric efficiency and angular force to neutralise opponents of much greater physical build and raw strength.

An Art Form Formed by a Woman

Originally developed by a female founder, this style does not rely on brute force. It is perfectly suited for women seeking practical self-defence, as it teaches you how to systematically overcome superior weight and strength without needing matching force.

A Slow, Rewarding Process

We do not rush the foundation. It takes roughly six months of patience and devotion to master the first form, the basic stance, and core principles. We choose to build lasting capability over quick, superficial progress.

"Wing Chun is not a sport;
it is an art form, a philosophy, and a lifestyle. You cannot learn it from a video.
It requires interaction, heart, and dedication."

Training Guidelines and Philosophy

Perfect Pairing Size

To maintain our high standards of instruction, our open classes are strictly limited to a maximum capacity of 20 students. We aim for an optimal floor size of 12 students, allowing everyone to pair up perfectly for hands-on, interactive training.

The "Teach and Learn" (教學) Ethos

Hanging on our academy wall is the calligraphy phrase 教學, meaning to teach and to learn. If a student brings the interest and the heart, Sifu Yang is entirely devoted to teaching them.

The Kids/Youth Policy

Our youth training is not an after-school babysitting service. Children must demonstrate the maturity and personal willingness to learn before joining our friendly, focused classes.
